    • Joshua D. Hoyt

Hi My name is Joshua Hoyt and I write books in my spare time I currently live in the Valley of the Sun in Arizona with my amazing wife and four beautiful children There I work as school Psychologist In my other spare time, I love to garden, creating spectacular water falls, streams and koi ponds in my back yard I enjoy games of all types and love to spend time playing with my family In fact a lot of the ideas and content for my young adult fiction is trigered by the role playing games we play as a family I also enjoy hiking, camping and a good movie. After a childhood of moving from place to place throughout the west and two years in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I decided to create my own world in which I could settle down, thus the world of Order of the Rose Right now I am hard at work on the second book of the trilogy.

    • I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest reviewis is a fantastic start to this series. when I first began I wasn't quite sure where it was going. We have this young boy of five who is being sent away and we have no idea why. His mom is in trouble it seems and wanting to protect him. No one knows where his dad is. Suddenly as he is leaving danger occurs and Tom is now left alone in this world. All he knows is his mom told him to stay strong he is a Alerio and to stay where he is fo [...]

    • Synopsis: Tom Alerio is a young boy orphaned early and growing up hard amongst the more hardened boys in an orphanage that is run by a shady director. He is presented a choice of paths when he reaches an age to choose and his adventures begin. He makes loyal friends, learns about himself, and learns more about the world than his narrow view from the orphanage. Pros: It is a lovely children's book that would be a fantastic read aloud for bedtime. There is action, drama, and you can't help but won [...]

    • Good readthe characters are well defined with a twisting plot line.I am looking forward to the next book with much anticipation.

    • As a young boy, Tom Alerio is taken from his family and thrust into a chaotic world. He discovers he inherited magical powers from his mother and that he is more special than he realizes. Opposing groups battle over who gets their hands on Tom, but he finds himself with a small and supportive group who help to train him. Secrets begin to unravel and the dangers increase. Tom must help restore the Order of the Rose or the evil growing will darken the entire world. This is a wonderful debut novel f [...]

    • Recieved from a giveaway in exchange for a review. There is a kernel of a good story here, but it badly, badly needs a content editor not just a copy editor. There is a reason I don't normally read self published novels and the lack of both a copy and content editor is that reason. There are a lot of plot holes and awkward scene pacing moments. And I wouldn't have minded all of those problems and graded higher on a curve, if I hadn't run across a plot point that is one of the most mysogynistic [...]

    • This is an enjoyable fantasy. Hoyt has taken magic and created a very enchanting relationship between males and females, magic-wielders and their counterparts. The history behind the magic, the purpose of the Order, and the twist of magic's return to males is really interesting. Hoyt pulls elements from medieval lore, fantasy, and his own imagination to create a very engaging story. I look forward to reading the second book in the series.
