But ye would do well to be careful what ye seek.Treasure hunter, Rick Braeden, is the seeker in this captivating jungle adventure. His quest? The fabled Lost City of Gold. Does it exist or doesn't it? And if it does, what secrets does it hold? A hundred other adventure seekers had attempted to find out over the ye [...]

    • Lost City of Gold is fun and fast paced and reminds me of watching the old action-adventure Saturday matinees as a kid. It’s a quick, easy read but has all the elements of a good story. It has the adventure of traipsing through a dark jungle on a quest for a rumored lost city of gold. The thrill of the dangers encountered along the way, testing out hero’s resolve. And with any good mystery-thriller, things are not always as they seem once he reaches his goal. This is a good book to read while [...]

    • This is a great action/adventure story from Rai Aren. If you've read any of her other books like Secret of the Sands or Destiny of the Sands then you're in for a treat with this one.I love it. Rick, the protagonist, is a great character with real depth and personality, if not somewhat flaweden't we all! I'm always interested in mysteries that take place in exotic locales and this one does.Without spoiling it for you, there is a terrific twist towards the end that I never saw coming. I can't wait [...]

    • A big fan of Rai's Egyptian stories, I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. Fast moving plot line delving deep into the jungle kept me reading. Lots of adventure, mystery, and surprises! I didn't care much for Rick, the main character. He whined a lot, and as his guide stated, felt that he was owed. However, at the end, I felt that Rick had redeemed himself. Can't wait for the other stories in this series.

    • Lost City of Gold Written by Rai Aren Reviewed 2/8/18 When it is too good to be true, there for sure is something wrong with it!Reckless treasure-hunter Rick Braeden sets out into the uncharted reaches of the jungle in a dangerous search of the fabled Lost City of Gold. It’s a quest for an ancient city shrouded in mystery that he believes will place him in the history books and bring him all of the riches and redemption that have eluded him. He also hopes to succeed where more than one hundre [...]

    • As noted, this is a short book. The story is similar to many other tales of searches for lost treasure in dangerous places. Some parts of the narrative were developed in depth, while others seemed to slide on by. The basic premise is very interesting, and the last third of the story offers many more details to explain what has happened. The two main characters had little backstory to explain them, and the reader may not find either very endearing or interesting. The value of this book is more ab [...]

    • I got this story for free and I'm happy to review it. I loved it from the beginning. I adore these kind of Indiana Jonesy stories. And. Well I didn't see that twist coming. But the last chapters were too short for me. I won't explain why because of spoilers but it all went too fast. But all the other chapters were great!

    • This is a great short story. I will not give away the plot, except to say if you enjoy those tales of jungles and lost tribes, treasures and unusual landscapes this will satisfy you. The ending had a twist that I truly appreciated. Original and satisfying.

    • Short advantures story about a lost city, not really lost. Mystical, dangerous and a kind of happy ending. One question bothered me in the end where came the money from he used to buy a coke and a ticket ? And why did nobody look for him there after his escape ? hmmmmmm small flaw, maybe !

    • With twists and turns that keep you up all night so you can finish the book, this story takes you through the jungles of the with the adventurer. But, don't get comfortable, because there might be a surprise behind the next bend.

    • This interesting, well written story is a throwback to the Golden Age of Pulp and authors such as H. Rider Haggard, Edgar Wallace and Edgar Rice Burroughs. It is based on the actual legend of a lost city in the Brazilian ian jungle. Colonel Percy Fawcett, his son Jack and about 100 others have disappeared over the years while searching for the city or the lost explorers. This story offers a fictional explanation for the disappearances. More recent archeological finds have uncovered a city upon w [...]

    • This was a good book for a short story, well written and interesting. It could easily have been plumped out with more details and the ending was too sudden, as if the author had just decided she'd had enough. I have to say that I found the ending disappointing, I also expected our hero to receive some acknowledgement from Sergio for saving his life, it would have made the story more complex and complete.

    • n enjoyable and easy read. This reminds me of old time adventure stories and the Indiana Jones movies. Plenty of mystery and magic. A cautionary tale for would be explorers and adventurers. The only disappointments for me was the escape of Rick, which was glossed over and it was too short.

    • Kind of down the middle. Not real impressed, but readable enough. Besides I'm a easy grader. Just didn't feel like I learned anything an easy read I suppose.
