    • My 10 year old daughter loved reading this book and recommended that I should read it next. While I was reading it she kept asking me what chapter I was up to and my thoughts about the children's adventure. We were able to discuss the story and my daughter started making predictions about what might happpen in the next book. It was lovely to find a book that has been well written for her age and extends on her interests in Mermaids. We both enjoyed it and like to recommend it everyone.

    • After her mother and grandfather dies, Kirsten McGee received a free horse, Merri, that just happens to be a descendant of Pegasus. Not only is Kirsten shocked to find that Merri can fly, but she discovers that she is a hybrid, a product of a union between a human and mermaid. Now the mermaid's home is threatened and only Kirsten and her brother Jeremy can stop the ring of fire from destroying everything. This fast paced tale with its twists and turns will keep you engaged until the last page.Un [...]

    • A wonderful sense of adventure and ingenuity. The characters were fresh with Australian grit and know-how. The visual descriptions were lush drawing the reader into a world of fact and myth. I would highly recommend this stimulating work to 9-13 yr olds (I personally loved how the story unfolded with unexpected twists, the characters were charming with a dash of rascal for good measure - my favourite character was Jeremy, brother to the hybrid Kirsten)Looking forward to reading the sequel.

    • Delightful fantasy for ages 9 to 14 I would think, although this grandmother also enjoyed it. Mermaids, winged horses, hybrids (1/2 mermaid 1/2 human) and a Gorgon! The children solve the mystery of several disappearances, recover the lost treasure of the city of mermaids and save the city and many lives. I highly recommend adding a copy of this book to your own library.
